MACOM Introduces New Transimpedance Amplifier Supporting 12G-SDI Over Optical Fiber for Broadcast Video Applications

  • MACOM’s MATA-07825 is a low power, high-sensitivity TIA
  • New TIA enables 12G-SDI with support for pathological patterns
  • MACOM’s TIA solutions to be showcased at NAB 2018, Booth #N3908

Lowell, Massachusetts, April 10, 2018MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”),

a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for broadcast video infrastructure, today announced the introduction of the MATA-07825, a new Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) for supporting 12G-SDI transmission over optical fiber. This low power, high sensitivity TIA enables long distance transmission of Serial Digital Interface (SDI) video over optical fiber, including support for pathological patterns.

MACOM’s new MATA-07825 is a high sensitivity TIA enabling SFP+ module vendors to provide 12G-SDI modules which can also support Pathological patterns down to SD rates. This TIA features sensitivity of 11.88Gbps to enable link budgets of more than 10km using a PIN photodiode on singlemode fiber, and can support longer distances with an Avalanche Photo-Diode (APD). The MATA-07825 includes a receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) which can be used with a PIN photodiode.

“There are a number of applications which rely on SDI over optical fiber for extended reaches,” said Mike Fukatsu, Senior Director, Marketing, for the High-Performance Analog business unit, at MACOM. “MACOM’s new TIA is the first to enable 12G-SDI over optical fiber including pathological support all the way down to Standard Definition rates, which is aimed at ensuring compatibility with legacy SDI video streams.”

MACOM’s MATA-07825 TIA will be showcased at NAB 2018, Booth #N3908, April 9th-12th at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. To make an appointment, contact your local sales representative. For more information on MACOM’s broadcast video portfolio, please visit: www.macom.com.
