Honoring Dr. Allen Katz
MACOM will participate in a special memorial session on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 1:30 to 3:10 p.m. in Room 210 of the Moscone Center, celebrating the life and work of Dr. Allen Katz, a pioneer in analog linearization and founder of Linearizer Technology Company, acquired by MACOM in 2023. The session will include personal reflections from Dr. Katz’s family, friends and colleagues, an overview of his contributions to the field of linearization and a discussion of his legacy in RF technology and amateur radio. In addition, the 21st Annual Allen Katz High Efficiency Power Amplifier (HEPA) Student Design Competition (SDC) will be held at IMS 2025 on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. This year’s contest focuses on designing and demonstrating PAs that achieve both high efficiency and two-tone linearity across a broad frequency band. A longtime professor and mentor, Dr. Katz was instrumental in founding the IMS SDC program, which encourages students to solve real-world engineering programs and gain hands-on experience through circuit or system design within defined constraints. Competition topics range from PA to antenna design.
