RF over Fiber (RFoF) is the transmission of analog radio frequency signals over optical fiber. It involves the transmission of RF signals directly through light, enabling high-fidelity, long-distance signal transport with minimal loss and interference.

MACOM designs, develops and manufactures state-of-the-art RFoF components, modules and systems. MACOM also has the capability to design custom products and solutions to meet the needs of your specific applications supporting the entire development and manufacturing process from specification definition, design, qualification and volume production. MACOM’s RFoF products have been developed for commercial and military applications including airborne, marine and Hi-Rel space platforms.

 Capabilities:

  • High fidelity RF/microwave photonic links incorporating directly and externally modulated technologies to address a wide range of RF frequencies and performance requirements
  • Module and sub system designs can include Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA), precise fiber delay lines, multi-path phase alignment and CWDM/DWDN functionality providing increased system flexibility and capabilities
  • RF, optical and module design services. Optimization for both performance and environmental requirements, including RF analog testing up to 80 GHz, optical testing, optical spectrum measurement, temperature shock, temperature cycling, vibration testing, thermal-vacuum testing and radiation hardness testing (Additional testing is performed off-site as required)
