The P-40HPA is an ultrafast, InGaAs PIN photodetector designed as an O/E front-end for OC-768, 43 Gb/s, RZ and NRZ systems. The proprietary, back-illuminated semiconductor diode design optimizes speed, sensitivity and low polarization dependence for both 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths, while the internal, ceramic waveguide design assures a clean pulse response necessary for low group-delay, time-domain, digital applications. The high power capability allows receiving of high average input powers and large optical modulation signals commonly used in 40 Gb/s line-side receiving applications. When receiving high modulation powers, the HP Series photodetectors can be used to drive clock/data recovery circuits without the need for pre-amplification. The detector is mounted in a compact 8-pin butterfly-style package with an Anritsu-V® output connector with 50W internal termination for low output VSWR, and standard single-mode input fiber. The hermetic module is Telcordia compliant.
