MACOM’s 2nd Gen 12G SDI Chipset Achieves Enhanced Results with Canare Electric Cable

Lowell, Massachusetts, September 8, 2016 – MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of high-performance RF, microwave, millimeterwave and photonic semiconductor products, today announced with Canare Electric, a leading industry supplier of UHDTV cabling solutions, a new performance reach for MACOM’s 2nd Generation 12G-SDI chipset when partnered with Canare’s L5.5UHD coaxial cable. This combined solution achieves over 150 meters cable reach, increasing effective transmission over long distances as required in next-gen 4K editing, routing and transport applications.

MACOM’s MACD-23528 is a 2nd generation 12G-SDI cable driver offering customers improved performance with increased output signal, low power and low output jitter. This device exceeds all the physical layer specifications noted in SMPTE ST 2081-1 and ST 2082-1 standards, is footprint compatible with MACOM 3G-SDI cable drivers and has a programmable pre-emphasis feature, allowing customers to completely optimize performance. The MAEQ-23644A, a 2nd generation12G-SDI long reach adaptive cable equalizer, features and low noise and high gain equalization. This device includes an integrated relocker, reducing system cost, complexity and power consumption. The MACD-23528 and MAEQ-23644 are currently sampling, with production expected in calendar 2017.
